Initial Sketches

Composition #1

Composition #2

Composition #3

Process
My first three initial were figuring out different ways to interpret scenarios where a pet owner may sacrifice their comfortability for the sake of their pets. I ended up going with the third composition and created a fully rendered sketch to proceed with.

Final Render
Through color pencil, I illustrated a scene where a cat and its owner lay asleep together in the middle of the night. The cat clings to the owners face, happily, and the owner continues sleep as if this is a recurring situation. The lighting from the clock helps us see the scene unfold.
Viewers are able to find humor and relatability as they resonated with the idea of tolerating some discomfort for the sake of love that one has for their fur companion.
