The ABC's of VCD (R)
Objective
Create an illuminated letter that illustrates something that has to do with VCD for the book, "The ABC's of VCD" created by 26 illustrators and formatted by Ray Kampf, resulting in a promotional book that both educates and inspires future Visual Communication Design students at Cal Poly Pomona.

Process
Applying alliteration, each illustrator created a sentence that included a character and action using words related to the program.
For R, the sentence reads, "Ron rendered the red ruler in repetition making random rhythm."
As for the initial sketches, I settled on composition #4. Ron is a wacky, artistic character who uses a paint brush to render a series of abstract rulers to around the letter R. Just around the lobe grow a grouping of rulers at different lengths, in repetition, to create random rhythm. For my final render, I needed to make some alterations and color.

Final Render
Alteration to the final render include switching the character and the illuminated letter so that the illuminated letter reads first to the viewer. The final illuminated letter is also composed of red rulers with more red rulers growing out of the lobe at different lengths to create that random rhythm. The overall color choice is purposeful chosen to make each important element pop. This final render was done on Procreate.
