Cat Totem
Objective
Capturing the quirky bond between a cat lover and their pets, the goal of this illustration was to showcase the different personalities of each cat as it leaves their owner in a state of bewilderedness.

Initial Sketch
With my initial sketch, I was able to find this somewhat off balanced, vertical totem structure. The forms of each cat get smaller to symbolize their size, while also creating a bit of balance. The owner at the bottom is abstracted, with a bent, elongated neck which seems like it's about to snap under the weight. This is meant to playfully symbolize the trial and tribulations a cat owner experiences with multiple, expressive cats.

Final Render
Through acrylic paint and watercolor paper, I layered the vibrant colors to create contrast and dynamic lines, shapes and forms.
The final outcome shows an undefined, abstract person who seems a bit bewildered an confused. The brown and white cats are stacked up over each other to create a totem. This illustration resulted in a playful, memorable piece as the viewers notice the bold colors and shapes. Through color inspection the viewer is able to discover each cats personality.
